Back End Issues

I have a Jeep Compass 5 Speed - Sport North Edition- purchased new in March 2008 and has 5000k on it so far.

So far, I'm not very pleased with the quality of my Compass. Sure, you get what you pay for. But after spending $31k you would think it would run smootly for a few years, right?

A few weeks later, passenger side seat starts to squeek. I blasted the hinges underneith with WD40 and it's silent ..so far.

Then, the back rear started squeaking like an old junker on BOTH sides. It squeaks just driving along no matter what speed and is extremely embarassing!

Well I brought it in on Friday(last week)... both back bushings and the sway bar need to be replaced... at JUST under 5000K and two months old! Wow.
I certainly am glad I purchased the extended warranty, although it will only last me about 2-3 years for 100k since we drive so much for work Damn. I'm regretting buying this POS now... (sorry loyal compass fans, but this is just rediculous)
So that is my issues so far... let's hope there are no more!

Sorry that you've had issues. The first year of production usually does. The squeaky seat is covered with a TSB that you can find links to here: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f98/quick-links-mks-off-road-tsbs-parts-books-much-more-519045/

The Control arm bushings are starting to show up as a problem also.

First pics I've seen of the chrome door handles installed. Much nicer than I thought.

Yes, I thought they would look cheap, but actually fit perfectly and doesn't look too bad on silver. Now I think I need the mirrors, as the contrast looks wrong :P lol

This appear to be a great forum, I think I spent 2 hours last night checking around for info!

Gramps, I could have taken it completely out of context by saying something else...

But back on track now...

Seems very odd. I have ~9,000 miles on mine both on and off the German Autobahn as well and both on and off the paved roads in general. Its also got several modifications done to it.

What kind of roads do you drive on, smooth or rough? And at what speeds? Hit any pot holes? Have you done any suspension modifications? Any accidents? Sorry just covering the bases here. 5,000 km is not very far at all for you to be having any issues.

So, When does it go in for the surgery? Hopefully they will find it's a benign issue and the replacement fixes it indefinitely. (some times humor helps!)

Autobahn I'm so jealous!!! lol

Anyhow, I drive it like it's new. Mostly highway... No mods, nothing! It certainly should not be "broken" by any means yet! lol Still waiting on the damn part to get into the dealer... said they would call when it came in. Hopefully they will fix it!
