This is one of the things that I asked during the session with the Jeep Engineers - a conversion kit. I received no response at that time but I still wouldn't give up hope just yet. They should be able to "piggy back" a program to be able to do this mod. They just haven't yet.

I swear I read somewhere that the 2008 CVT's all have AutoStick now.. Maybe that L gear will be like a rare collector's item! That's right baby, I've got the L ... what, you guys are running with your +/- ? ha! You can't get the L anymore!

Jeep making the '08's with AutoStick as standard really makes me wonder why they haven't come out with a retro fit conversion and programing. Maybe it's coming.

The "L" only is still being used on the FD II, I don't understand the reasoning behind that either. Inquiring minds want to know.

Looks like someone had way too much coffee this morning- three posts all the same

Anyway the experiment only cost $160 in parts and labor. It will take about a half hour to return everything to the way it was.

heh, I have the "L" too but in 10 years or whatever when we want a new shifter cuz we cracked ours or something we will have to pay out the wazzoooooo as no boneyards will have em, dealer only

L is kinda nice now that Im not worried about exploding into a million pieces when I use it at high speed but Id LOVE to have both in the same MK. cant be THAT hard to make both coexist, its just programming after all.

The Jeep Engineers said that there are no plans to make a kit to do the conversion. G has proven that mechanically and electrically it can be done but the problem lies with not being able to over ride the programming for the VIN that they came with to let it run the AutoStick sub-routine. Someday, somebody may come up with the trick for doing that but it's out of my league.

Well I finally give up on hope to do the conversion. Therefore, I have put my jeep back to stock. (Darn software will get you every time).
