Anyone know where a good automatic headlight sensor can be purchased? I can't imagine the install is difficult other than a hole in the dash. I've become very reliant on automatic headlights. I couldn't believe the patriot didn't have it. Many of the really cheap cars out there have them as a standard option. I have a well equipped limited 4x4.
How about almost impossible? The lights are controlled by the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) which gets its signal to turn the lights on through the Steering Control Module by way of the LIN (Local Interconnect Network).
To simplify there is a computer in the steering column connected to the light switch, when the light switch is turned on it sends a signal to the computer that is actually connected to the lights to turn on the lights. No simple switches anymore.:brickwall
PS- my 2 cents I hate automatic headlights- they are always coming on when I do not want them and not coming on when I need them.
