Annoying "Oil Change" warning

hi all, Does anyone know how I can get rid of the "Oil Change" warning that comes on every time I start my Patriot?

i just changed the oil and filter, but the darn light keeps coming on

I was offered a free oil change at the dealer, but i just went ahead and did it myself. $20. save my self the hassle of going up there and waiting.

anyhow, thanx in advance.

it tells you in the owners manual.

1st turn ignition key to on position but do not start.
2nd press the gas pedal down to the floor and let it full up 3 times within 10 seconds
3rd turn the ignition off.

if it doesnt work the first time try again pressing the gas pedal slower.

it was an addition to the 2008 models that do not have the EVIC. Only 2007 models with the EVIC have the oil warning.

On my '07 Compass the EVIC was part of the Drivers Convenience Group- for a measly $425 I got the EVIC, Auto dimming mirror, outside temperature display, compass display, homelink garage door opener system and the "premium" tire pressure display- the one that shows the tire pressures.

The oil change system was new with the '08 model year and not on the '07s whether or not they have the EVIC

I bike therefore I work.

I got 2008 compass...mine comes on like every 10,000 kms....and I went to somewhere else rather than the dealership this time...as last time took them 2 hrs for just an oil change...was NOT impressed..so this is great I can get rid of it now! thanks

My wife just called me today to let me know the "Oil Change Required" message came up. I guess changed the oil the previous two times before the light ever came on.
