Although my first post seemed political, it wasn't originally intended to be. I was looking for technical advice on how to turn off my own ding, and ran into lots of mundane posts compelling people to obey laws and wear their seatbelts. How annoying. I thought it was worth mentioning that this seems like an unnecessary, controlling law put upon citizens. I should be able to undo my seatbelt Ding if I want to.

Also FYI, it seems sort of simple to call people trolls on public message boards that show up in google results...

I agree wholeheartedly that you should be able to disable the ding. In my case, I did disable the ding and I still wear my seat belt when driving as per the law.

If you search my threads here, I think I posted a detail explanation how it can be done. Good luck

The law says that you have to wear your seat belt while operating an motor vehicle on the road (I think), whether you have a "dinger" to remind you of it is kind of immaterial to me. Disconnecting the dinger does not violate any laws as far as I know.

I don't like wearing one while backing up trailers and other certain low speed maneuvers. Common sense should be your guide.
