Alternater problems

Hey guys, a little while ago I heard a rattle coming from my engine bay. After looking it up on YouTube and other research I'm pretty sure it's my alternator pulley. But today, my battery light came on, my instrument panel and lights were flickering, and there was a terrible odor coming from my car. Was that my alternator itself going out? Or is it still just my alternator pulley?

it pretty simple guy, open your hood and watch your pulley, rare for a pulley to be bad, more likely bearings burning up
