Where is it located and how do you check/change it? I see it is listed under regular maintenance during like every other event.

The original filter doesn't start out white, it's a lot more grey.

On a side note, that STP filter was a slightly snugger fit than stock. It didn't want to go the last 1/8-1/4 inch in. ?

Hmmm, I've only used factory an Napa filter an they fit just right. That's how I knew the factory ones were grey. You would kind of expect them to be unless they contained charcoal. I don't know if the do or not, just a thought.

Glad I found this thread. Just ordered one thru "The Zone" for $16. The Barrington, IL Jeep quoted me $24.00...hmm...

What's worse is the mopar super store has them for $15, but their shipping is $19 for GROUND service.

I had to buy my first ones through the dealer, aftermarket not available yet. I even sent some up to a friend in Alaska, same story.

With almost 40k miles I thought I should check mine and sure enough it needed to be changed. Mine appears to be white from the factory. Replaced it with a Purolator C25869 $9.69 from Amazon shipped, (prime member).
