Thank you....I'm here all day. Ha ha. I was on YouTube the other day and a Toyota dealership did an off road comparison with a fj and a jku. The jk just motored on through and the fj got hung up and had to make numerous attempts at the same obsticle. Ha ha. Cool looking when they are kitted out, but crap when wheelin

Haha my friend has a toyota and says the same thing about jeeps. He's pulled me and my brother out once, and my other friends 4runner was able to get some random kid we found on a trail out.

Not sure about the later model stuff but back in my early days the FJ's had small u-joints that didn't hold up too well, the MK's by-pass that problem.

Story of an MK owners life...I should make it out to your neck of the woods one time with my stock JK and be talking 'fake' sh*t and then when your Pat outperforms me they'd be like "oh damn...it's not bad AFTER all?!" lol

yeah... I always surprise and impress when I go out, but I am sick of the smack talking online. I couldn't post anything without serious criticism.

So I didn't have time to meet up for another trail on the west side of the valley, so I decided to do a trail I've been wanting to do for a while, which is listed as an easy trail in the wells book. Figured an easy trail I could do by myself just fine!

So I got out to 4 peaks around noonish:

and it was time to air down my tires, I have to say, I know a lot of people don't like it, but I like the way my patriot looks... Just need to figure out how to fit some bigger tires...

After a few short minutes I come to my first obstical! and I hate to admit, but I was flummoxed, and took the bypass!

at this point I realized that I had totally forgotten my book and map... and there were sooooo many different ways I could take!

But I knew that I wanted to head south, so that's what I did!

and I found water in the creek! Good sign, I was trying to make it to the lake, and water heads that-a-way!

But The trail took me up out of the creek bed, and back in again many times.

Driving in the creek was fun. at times I was sinking 5" into the sand and water, and then would find boulders under the sand and would suddenly pop up on that side.

There were other times the creek was just mud, and slick

and other times it was a boulder field I had to drive down

and then every now and then I would find solid ground I could stop on and rest, otherwise I had to keep moving, for fear of sinking.

at times the trail got very very narrow

I'm not joking

passing between these trees I literally had 1cm on either side of the jeep, and I only had that because I folded the mirrors in.

I got a lot of practice going over boulders.

Up and down steep rock strewn hills

Did I mention boulders?

There were some fast parts going through the sand

but I had to be careful about the boulders that would suddenly show up

Because of the narrowness of the trail, there were very very few places to turn around. This is where I was able to, nay, had to. I could go no further, I got to a point where the boulders were taller than the hood of my patriot, and I simply couldn't pass. I Felt bad until I got home looked at my map, realized I was no where where I had planned to be, and at this point on the map it is labeled "impassible boulder field" which made me feel better about stopping here.

I turned back and Finally got back to where I had gone wrong and took the incorect path. I should have gone back west a bit before heading south, instead of going south at this point.

ah, my old nemesis, the first obstacle... after all the practice I got, I decided that I just had to take the obstacle head on! I have to say I got a few dings on my skid plates, but I conquered it!

if you are interested, I have more pics here:

and I am uploading pictures to youtube, once they are finished, I will post them.

I like these roads in this part of 4peaks, makes me want a rally car to just tear it up. In my old pickup, I use to just powerslide through all the corners. Harder to do in the jeep, with the shorter wheelbase and 4wd locked.
