Can anyone provide insight on how to remove the dash panels to gain access to the MyGIG radio in the 2011 Compass?

the piece of plastic surrounding the radio (the piece that has the 2 center AC vents) just pulls off, albeit with a little force. start by putting your fingers in the vents and pulling. this should put a small gap between the dash trim and the rest of the dashboard at the top of the trim piece large enough to fit the tips of your fingers in. from there, just work it from the top, pulling towards you. once you have that piece off, you have access to the 4 bolts holding the radio in.

not a problem. it won't come out easily the first time. it takes a little...encouragement

Yep, it pulls right out -- but not without a fight. I popped it out by inserting plastic putty knives between the bezel and the rest of the dash where the lower right clip snaps in. That "insert" spot is right next to the vent selector knob. Then you just work the other ones the same way. You can see the holes where the snaps go in from my pic below. Once you've done that it's all down hill -- LockPick and Backup Camera installed in about an hour. Thanks for the good help.

WOW im jealous, on the 2008 compass. you have to take the entire dash apart to get to the bezel!

A friend of mine just bought a '11 Patriot and obviously got one with a cheap radio because he wants to swap it for an aftermarket to use his iPod but I'm sure there is an interface that we can add on, just have to look for it still.
