advice on a 2011 patriot?

Hey guys, I'm a JKU owner so I don't know much about patriots. The folks are looking for a good 4x4 vehicle to use this winter so of course I suggest buying jeep. They found a 2011 patriot bone stock (non-power everything, around as basic as it gets) with an auto I4. It has 16000 miles asking 15800 at our local Chevy dealer. They asked me to check it out tomorrow. We're in california but the jeep is originally from Nebraska so I'll be checking for rust etc but anything in particular I should keep an eye out for?

A brand new 2014 Patriot 4WD Sport is only $18K sticker. I wouldn't pay $15,800 for a 2011 with 16,000 miles.

We have a '10 Patriot Sport, 2.4L, Auto, FWD. I agree with nhpatriot -- too much $$$. Ours has 81k miles and it's 2wd, so no comparison. But happy to say the ONLY thing we did to it was replace the alternator and belt 1000 miles ago. The FWD is good on 1-4 inches of snow, but leave it at home with anymore more than that.

yeah, for a no option patriot, that's too much money. I wouldn't pay more than 12otd for it.

Well they were planning on only paying 14k max but a quick google search of local dealers and I found a brand new compass 4x4 for 18k. I've passed on the information. Thanks for the help guys! Definitely glad I asked.

Just an FYI don't even let them look at a Jeep Compass or Patriot with the 2.0L engine.
