add tweeters

I have trying to search all the forum, and haven't found a solution. I want to know if the cables for the tweeters are already there, so i can buy some and install them, because the 4 speakers i have actually doesn't sound well, i dont like them.

Thanks,

Ariel

If you pop off the factory tweeter cover, you will likely find no wires (I didn't, or I didn't look hard enough).

Use a panel puller or equally slim device to pop it off and have a peek. I chose tweeter pods and mounted on top of the tweeter cover, they were part of my component set (6.5" mid-range in door).

I don't have a close-up, but if you look in the left corner of below, you can see one pod:

Anyone have an answer to this? I am fine with the system, but if there are wires in there then I might as well throw some speakers in there.

Tweeters

I took apart the speaker grill and found speaker wire connectors. However, after more research I found this from jeep patriot forum:

There are no wires ran to the stock holes. Well actually there are connectors there but they are for the BA setup, and do not go to the back of the radio, they go back to the rear of the vehicle where the BA amp would be. So dont try to use those.

So it looks like we can not install speakers in the stock holes where the tweeters are located on the dash without doing something more then just plugging speakers in.

I got a question for you. If one was to install a aftermarket amp back in the spare comp., would they be able to hook up the tweeters then? I thought of doing this with a amp I have in another vehicle, but I did not know what I would need to use a tweeter on the output of it. I suppose the line voltage feeds that will feed the amp could be spliced to feed the tweeters.

I know NOTHING about stereos/amps etc. You may want to look on this site for more info or ***********.com where I found the discussion.

The JP site won't go threw the filter, sorry. I've tried to get this changed but it is out of my control.

Hvac59,

You could certainly add tweeters if you had an aftermarket amp installed. Perhaps a 4 channel amp? Then you could add a sub in the rear while you were at it.

Contrastly, you could pull your stock stereo, get the wire codes and splice the front left and right speaker wire, run the extra length to the stock tweeter holes.

I've got a write-up (though not a great one) on here somewhere on how to pull the stock stereo. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f98/aftermarket-radio-installation-guide-beta-378453/

In my case, I started with an aftermarket deck (needed a DVD player for the rear), so it was just a case of patching the tweeters in.

But yes, you're right
