Oh.. my..

http://www.fourwheeler.com/news/1312...orm-good-move/

Man am I glad I got the Patriot when I did. This thing is atrocious and what a horrible shot at the Jeepster name.

That is worse than the Cherokee! It looks like a mutated VW Beetle

no, they are going to replace the compass/pat with a compass/pat... they are going to kill one name but keep the line. This new car is going to be much smaller than the patriot, which is smaller (just) than the cherokee, which is smaller than the Grand cherokee.

Talked to a contact at jeep who says he's seen the final design and said it looks NOTHING like the fiat, and that the 7 slot grill is simply to test to make sure the cooling system works. and that the looks will be more classic jeep.

I'm not sure how they could go much smaller than the Patriot without being the size of a smart car?

This is tempting me to hold back on a Pat/cherokee purchase for the missus.
I am sure it will look great, thats just a Fiat 500L mule for the drivetrain testing.

I'll bet it'll be a smaller version of the Grand Cherokee / Cherokee styling. They seem to be heading that direction style wise.

I am sure it will be a bit squarer, that way they can get decent interior space.

I give very little chance to that "boxy theory" to live. JEEP is now under FIAT's control, and FIAT desperately needs to broaden market adoption. Square design can pass only in USA, but, JEEP is brand with international representation, and buyers in Europe and Asia are not keen on that old-fashioned design.
Wrangler will probably stay designed in that "default" boxy way, but I expect all other models to follow New Grand Cherokee/New Cherokee/New Compass line.
