When my wife and I were looking for one, we tried to wheel and deal on two others before we finally bought a third.
The first was a 2012 Latitude 4x4 with tons of options. Sticker was $28,100; dealership had it knocked down to $25,350 after rebates. We had them down to $22850 before we walked away.
The second was a 2012 Sport 4x4. Only options were All Weather Group, CVT II, and U-Connect. Sticker was $24,300; dealer had it knocked down to $22,180 after rebates. We had them down to $19,700 before we walked away.
The third one, the one we bought, is a 2012 Sport 4x4 with no options except a block heater and CVT II. Sticker was about $23,100; dealership had it knocked down to $20,300 after rebates. We got them down to about $18,800 and pulled the trigger.
Clarification: By "got them down", I actually mean we negotiated up the price of the trade-in. We owed on the trade-in exactly what it was worth, so everything above that was hashed out.
