2008 Patriot & Compass

According to a guy who runs another jeep forum, the starting July '07, the new Patriots will go into production. He mentioned several of the minor changes over at the Patriot forums....mostly package re-arrangement.

A couple of thing that stand out are 3 new colors: Sunburst Orange Pearl (like SEMA Patriot), Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl (replaces Black), and Surf Blue Pearl (replaces Marine Blue).

Also, the '08 Pats get the autostick to any who might be interested in having a gearless CVT that you can shift.

Air condition is now standard on the sport.

hm. cant wait to see that new blue color... and the orange.

since i'm ordering mine in august, it'll be an 08 model

The new colors will probably be the same as the ones available for the Nitro. Thats just a guess though.

I read on the forums that you can't order the '08 patriots yet. I don't know if I missread that or not, but I was at the dealer today, pricing out the '08s, and he said they can order them now. I'm going to see what I can scrape together and I might go ahead and order an '08. If only I could decide between orange (just because I love that one) ... and steel blue...

So now that you can order, do you know if there were any other changes besides those listed? Did Jeep add heated mirrors or auto headlights or anything?

I don't think heated mirrors will be an option. DRL are available on the Limited now. But they weren't functioning for a lot of people. Apparently the dealer needed to activate them thru the cars computer if you don't have the EVIC.

Just out of curiousity are DRL the same as auto headlights? Will they turn on full headlights at night?

No they don't turn on the regular lights at night. It's reduced power high beams only, when it's in other than park/neutral.

auto lights from a material standpoint cost less than a dollar to implement. Why is jeep holding out on this???

Believe it or not, some people HATE them, especially if they can't be turned off when you don't want them to be on (such as when you need to "sneak" up to a house after your date's curfew...I'm 42, but vaguely remember doing that). My last vehicle had them, and the forum for that vehicle was full of threads from people who wanted to know how to disable them. Some people also don't like having one vehicle with them and another vehicle without them, since when you drive the latter vehicle you may forget to turn the lights on and get a ticket. Personally, I like them and REALLY miss having them on my Compass.

some people like them because you get a discount from some insurance companies.
