2008 compass tire size

Hey guys and girls. I did a search on here and Google and couldn't find anything, but I need new tires for my 2008 compass. Right now I have stock tires and was wondering if its possible to put on bigger sizes without lifting it. I know 215's are standard so can I even go to a 225?

Also winter is coming and I'm in buffalo so if you have any recommendations on good snow tires or all seasons good in snow, it would be appreciated!

so without a lift on a 17" rim I could fit 235/65/17 without tire rub?

I try to recommend staying around a 28' tall tire with out a lift. Some places will do a test fit (on the front) to see if the tire will work alright. I would expect that the 29' tire might rub on that little wheel well nub that sticks out on the read of the fender well. It's only a type of plastic and some have heated it up with a hair drier and flattened it out with a hammer.

Also the dealer can't program the speedo for taller than a 28' tire.

Thanks a lot!
Also, i was looking at the Rocky Road 2.125" lift. What would be the max tire size allowable to prevent rub after this lift?

Outside of the speedo error I'm running 29.1 with the RR lift. I have heard of some others running a little taller but they also had to play with wheel spacers and put up with rubbing anyway. Keep it simple at 29.1 and you'll be fine.
