2007 Compass owner, Compression problems..
Hi everyone. I looked back quite a few pages and couldnt find the help was looking for.
I have a 2007 Compass Limited and recently had it in to the dealer to look into front end and rear noises and the CEL.
They went ahead and replaced the lower front control arms, rear toe links, rear lateral arm, 2 solenoids and plugs before checking the motor. When they finally got to the motor they told me it has 60 psi in cylinder #4 and my current bill was $1370.00.
If I want them to look at the motor it would be a few hundred just to diagnose (approx $700) and possibly $1000 plus to fix.
The Compass has 127,000kms on it and it is in mint shape. I would hate to write it off but I can't afford $2000.00 or more to fix this issue. They should have looked at the motor first which was my argument but they said the motor guy was busy so we got what we could out of the way, and I had to pay.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why cylinder #4 has 60psi?
It WAS making a ticking sound and had poor power/mileage prior to the issue. And the oil may have been low, not catastrophically low, just low.
P0304-CYLINDER 4 MISFIRE
P00B - did not find. I did find P000B-BANK 1 CAMSHAFT 2 POSITION SLOW RESPONSE
P0513-INVALID SKIM KEY (ignition key)
The rest I found online, not in the manual.
P1418 on Jeep is Cylinder 8 Reactivation Control Performance (on a 4 cyl ??)
P1412 on Jeep is Cylinder 2 Reactivation Control Performance
P1417 CYLINDER 7 REACTIVATION CONTROL PERFORMANCE (no Cyl 7 ???)
Not very helpful but that's all that I can find. :(
Whatever happened to the lifetime warranty? Wouldn't cover the front end, but would cover the engine.
Lifetime Powertrain wasn't offered until later 07 so it's possible to have an 07 without it and also only applies to the original owner (but saying they aren't but just for clarity).
