08 Compass Squeaky Brakes

My wife has an 08 Compass that she bought new. For the longest time, the brakes squeak when she backs up. It only does it when she start from being parked; like backing out of the garage or a parking space. It does not do it when she drives forward after being parked. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Ours does the same thing. I checked out the brakes and there's nothing wrong with them. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.

We have a 2013 Jeep Compass that does the same exact thing. Brought it to dealership this week and they said it's a known thing with Compass and Patriots. Basically they smoother out the brake pads and added lube. Seems to have helped.

Common issue on any vehicle with rear disc brakes.Alot has to do with slight surface rust on the rotors from sitting(more so in humid areas) and the direction of wear(most of your braking is done going forward).
