07 Compass Stalling Problem

My wife's 07 Compass has stalled on her three times now.

She says it always occurs while stopped at a traffic light for instance.
She'll be completely stopped, idling, and then she says it just kinda shudders and the engine dies.

It's CVT Autostick transmission. This would almost always happen when the A/C is running...being down here in South Florida it's always hot enough for it.

She told me that it happens when she has just exited from a highway and traveling at highway speeds...then comes to a stop at a light. I asked her if she could recall the fuel level at the time of the stalls, but she couldn't remember. I was thinking low fuel, fuel pump problem? It only has about 12k miles on it...had it since 10/06.

Anyway, does anybody have any suggestions? This is definitely an intermittent problem and has never occurred while I've been driving it.

Paul

You may want to browse the TSB's over in the Caliber Forums that ResumeSpeed puts together. It covers all PM's and MK's.

The server was down this morning, which he says happens intermittently, keep trying.

The bottom line, I'd have the dealer look at it. The TSB may give you some ammunition.

Yeah, took it to the dealer today...she needed her oil change/tire rotation anyway...and they upgraded the engine and tranny control modules.

I knew they wouldn't be able to duplicate the problem, but hopefully it threw a code and they saw it. I would like to think the software upgrades needed to be done, and this was not just their "cure all" solution .

Didn't see anything about a TSB on the link you gave me, so we'll see if this fixes it. I thought I read somewhere that the transmission module upgrade fixed the hesitation problem with the tranny too. I hope so, cause for me that was more than a little annoying...the wife didn't even notice it. Of course I usually use the Autostick, so that eliminates it when I remember to use it.

Thanks again,
Paul

This is the specific TSB that most of us have been using for hesitation. It's a combination for the engine and the CVT, if so equipped.
