WTF can't get new brake pads over new rotors...

I've never had this problem with my 05 TJ when replacing the front rotors and pads. But, I can't no matter what position the caliper is in, get te new brake pads to fit over the new brake rotor. Both NAPA brand OE replacement and I verified the part numbers.... Any tricks to the JK versus the TJ when trying to replace new pads & rotors?

Did you check to make sure the calipers aren't pushed out from having older pads on them?

x2 for JkFuriousd.. although, I'm assuming that he's following the same procedure as the TJ, where we push the piston back into the caliper. I used the old pad (on my TJ), flip it, then a C-clamp to press it back in as evenly as possible... I've got less than 12k miles on the JK, and not due for a brake job anytime soon based on what I saw the last time I took my wheels off...

Edit: I'm also wondering if the parts store's reference number is correct for "factory" specs.. perhaps the rotors are too thick/wide?

Tried the c-clamp and it worked. The piston went in a lot more than I thought it would. Front brakes are done! Now if I could only get the f*$&ing rotor off the back...... This was suppose to be an easy job and I should have been done two hours ago!

I obviously don't have a big enough hammer. So what is the trick getting the rotors past the parking brake shoes.

You should be able to adjust them in a little bit so the rotor will just slide right off, I think.

Your parking brake isn't on right? They should wiggle off if you work them side to side.

I tend to smack the rotors initially on their face, between the studs to jar them a little. Then placing a prybar behind the rotor to give the rotor a little preload, and tapping the side of the "top hat", pry the rotor off. This tends to walk the rotor's rust ridge past the parking shoes. This can be a real pain so good luck!

Ive had 2 rotors get stuck before on me, both times I ended up using a harbor freight wheel puller and a big a$$ hammer. I clamped a wood 2x4 using some clamps onto the rotor and smacked it with a hammer tell it broke free.

Didn't read any posts but you need to put the pad that sits on the piston in the caliper and put a c-clamp over it and tighten to compress the piston. I take it you have never done a bj before? lol

Sorry, should have read. to get the rear off, tap with a hammer all around the edges while prying it and it should come off.
