Windshield cracked

My windshield cracked. Driving along with defrost on high 29 degrees with snow on hood no other factors involved it just cracked along the bottom. I guess this covered under warranty? Never seen anything like it!

It seem I'm not the only one that's had this problem.
Dealer said they would look at but prob not covered.
Live in SC free windshield law ! $0 cost Done today.
Might put some extra sealant along the bottom.

You might have had a small stone chip down low that caused a "stress riser", and the heat from the defrost might have caused it to crack.

Most insurance plans will cover it for free. You could try going to a few different dealers under warrenty, but I don't think they will honor glasswork.

If the crack can be covered by a dollar bill your insurance company will repair it free of charge. If it's larger than a dollar bill your comprehensive coverage will cover it. You will owe a deductible. It's a good idea to have your comprehensive deductible set at $100.

Warranty does not cover glass damage, it is SPECIFICALLY disclaimed.

My windscreen is full of cracks. Get used to it.

I got hit by a small rock on the lower portion of the drivers side window. The cold came and toasted the windshield. Yup depending on the size some insurances will cover. Most dont, so an out of pocket expense. Inexpensive though.

If it's the infamous stress crack, it should be replaced under warranty.
I got it replaced twice.
Same stress crack both times, once from the center top, once from the center bottom.

A little search will get you 100 threads about the crack...

I always laugh when I see JK's parked in the street and they have the crack...
The crack is EVERYWHERE!!!
