Winch wire route

What is the best wire route for my new Quadratec 9500si winch? All routes leave the back wire lead short 10 inches.

Not sure about 2013, but in my 08 I ran them through the grill, up by the air intake, and then along the passenger side of the engine compartment to the battery.

tried that. they are a foot short. the only way i could get them to reach is straight up beside the radiator over the air filter box between the engine and the fuse box.

That's weird. I would call them up maybe and see which way they recommend routing it?

Use a quick disconnect in line with the battery. Buy a couple of feet of pos and neg cable and you will be good to go. This way there will be no accidental draw or unintended misuse of the winch. I routed mine as rocky clymer did and added an abrasion guard sleeve like they use on hydraulic lines to eliminate any risk of shorting out the wires.

This, and I even had extra cable but my winch is an Engo.

I upgraded the cables to #1 welding wire, copper lugs, quick disconnects, and fused positive. Better for hard pulls. Interesting, but stock winch cables dont meet electrical codes for their amperage draw... Suppose it is rated for intermittent duty...

Great idea, can't believe i didn't think of that. any links for disconnects? Did you do both pos and neg? or just one, which one?

I thought about changing the battery terminals also but the factory is crimped and there is an extra post that I am using. thoughts?

I went the same route as SubAtomic using 2/0 welding wire.

Pics are examples of what I used:

TemCo 2/0 welding wire (eBay):

Anderson 350 AMP quick disconnects:

In the process of replacing/re-wiring battery terminals with this type of "military" terminal (delcity.net):

That's what I'm doing with mine (though my yj battery is easier to access). I used these battery terminals and instead of just a single quick connect, add jumper cables to the second connector and mount it on the bumper. A pic of my marine terminals

I used the Anderson 350 amp disconnect also so that there was no "accident" and also placed the positive lead in one of the plastic wire looms for some extra abrasion resistance. So far, no problem. Even though the APP is rated at 350 amps, the know that at max draw the M8000 is close to 400 amps, but usually intermittent.
