Winch install?

Bone stock 2015 Wrangler (2d).

Want to install a wench on the front, what do I have to do to the stock bumper? What can it hold?

Thanks

I'm not sure if you have to marry them first but I believe you at least have to buy the wench dinner before you install her.

If you mean a Winch and I think you do. A winch plate that goes across the front frame stubs is the most common way. Some bumpers like the one I have, have the plate as part of the bumper.
But I don't know what a 2015 YJ has for frame stubs.

I would recommend a nicer suspension passenger seat if you want your wench to stay strapped to the vehicle. They tend to make a lot of noise and come unhinged and fall out if the ride is too bumpy.

For reals though, the stock bumper is good if you remove the plastic cover and install a real winch plate. There was just a good post about how to do so yesterday with lots of pictures.

One of these Winch Plates says it's good to 10K lbs. The others don't list a capacity. I'll have to look into the ratings further. Let me know if you have any other questions or if you'd like a quote!

You can also make your own winch plate if you have a drill press. I probably wouldn't do it with just a hand drill, although it is possible.
