I'm getting ready to install a used Warn 8,000 lb winch and Smittybilt bumper on an 08 Rubicon 4 door. The winch weighs about 90 lbs, don't know how much the bumper will weigh. I am being told that the front end will sag noticably with this weight addition. Is this the case? My TJ didn't blink when I added the winch and plate to its front end. If it does sag, the fix is?
The front will lose some height after adding those items. Figure about 150 to 200 pounds depending on the bumper. Go sit on your bumper and see how far down the front of your Jeep goes. The "fix", so to say, would be adding spacers on top of the coil spring to compensate. Or, get new bigger/taller coil springs, but I don't think that there are any springs that will only give about 1" of lift. The smallest that I have seen was a 2" spring made by Poly Performance.
My 08 Rubi 4 door had a noticeable sag after RR Bumper and M8000 Warn install. Removed factory coil spring puck and replaced with 2" puck and now almost perfectly level .
When I put the rugged ridge front bumper w/ stinger and a mile marker SI9500 winch on the front of my X the front went down about 3/4". I have heard the Rubicon springs are stiffer but not sure on that but if true the sag would be a little less.
