will 33" tires fit on a stock rubicon...?

will 33" tires (33 x 12.5) fit on a stock rubicon with AEV Pintler rims (4.7" backspacing) without any rubbing problems? or do i need to put a 2.5" Teraflex BB lift on as well?

And if I do need to put on a 2.5 Teraflex BB, how much would a dealer usually charge for that?

i'm going to say yes, they will fit.

please don't pay anyone to install a BB for you. particularly not a stealership. you can do it yourself in a couple hours, with hand tools, in your driveway.

Thats easier said than done. Some of us dont have Driveways, and as part of my home ownership rules, you are not allowed to do any car repair/mods in their parking lot. I am not the OP, but I would love to be able to do it myself, but a lack of knowledge, and no real place to do it make it kinda diffacult for some. I know alot of people do it themselves in a couple hours though, I wish I could say that

Load up your lift and the tools you'll need and do it in a school parking lot on the weekend. It's not as hard to install as you might fear. There's plenty of writeups on this and other forums with detailed instructions and tips on how to do it.

Let's look at the math:

The stock JK Ruby 32" tire is 10.2" wide.
A 33x12.5" tire would be 2.3" wider.

The stock rim has an offset of 6.25"
An aftermarket rim with an offset of 4.7" will be outboard 1.5" more than stock.

So... you've got room because the additional offset of 1.5" will allow a tire to fit that is 3" wider (only half the width of the larger tire is inboard).

Note: Normally, circumference would be an issue as well but the new 33" tire will only add 1/2" to tire height. And, of course, all numbers assume accurate reporting by the tire company of tire measures.

Adding the 3/4 leveling spacer in the front would be perfect for your tires.

The Oct. '07 Off Road Adventures Magazine has a chart on p. 93 about the BFG M/T TA KM2 tires. The LT 285/70R17/D is 33" in dia. and will fit approved Rim Widths of 7.5"-8".

to hop off topic for a bit...i understand your plight, but there is always a way, like Broken Soldier said. Or, join a club, they'll have all kinds of helpful information, tools, time, and motivation to help out.
