Where is Sirius antenna located?

Does anyone know where the Sirius antenna is located? I really want to move it to a better spot because reception really sucks.

In other words, has anyone had success improving Sirius? I go under a freaking tree with one leaf and it goes out.

The 2008 Jeep Wrangler is not so much an SUV as it is an experience. It's slow and loud, handles poorly, has crummy interior materials and features doors that provide virtually no crash protection. But when it comes to off-road performance, the Wrangler is simply the best choice available.

Not sure if they changed it on the JK's but on my 06 LJ it's on top of the cage bar. Left side, you'll see a hump in the padding. Unzip the padding, and it'll be there. As far as better reception goes, run with the top off/down and the antenna exposed, if it doesn't get any better then it might be the satelite or your location, not the antenna. I can see where it would be tough to permantly mount that style antenna on the jeep, unless you put it on top of a hard top and never take the top off. Or put it on an upright stick of some kind, but that would probably look bad. I would find a shop that installs audio and talk to them to see if they can help. Maybe there's a booster or something they can install. I'm certainly no expert, I just thought I'd throw all that out for ya. Good luck, I love mine, comercials suck!

According to the instructions that come with the Mopar Satellite Radio Installation Kit (See PDF from Quadratec), the antenna should be located on the roll bar just above the front passenger seat. I haven't verified this with my own JK, but I experience your pain with the intermittent outages caused by trees, overpasses, etc. However, I've read in numerous posts that the hardtops/softtops should not impact the satellite radio reception. If this is true, then it would likely seem that the antenna is positioned too far to the passenger side and better reception would be experienced if the antenna were in the middle of the roll bar. Just my thoughts. Hope this helps.

Sirius

The antenna is located under the plastic dash lid over the top of the radio.

That's for the compass, not the satellite radio.

It's above the rollbar/plastic like everybody else said.

That's where mine was! Replaced it with an XM antenna in the same place and rarely lose the signal, although I don't remember the Sirius signal dropping much either.

I hate when I am at sonic and under the awning and it goes out, I have to backup or pull up to try and get a reception.

I have XM also, and has no reception issues what so ever. It's just a simple magnetic clip on antenna. Sirius goes out way too much. It's constant. Especially on roads that have trees on both sides. I'll try moving it, and see what happens and post back. Thanks!

its located on the drivers side of the roll cage underneath the cloth part..if you unzip that thing you will see it right there. it's got some double sided sticky tape or somethign on it...not sure if there's enough wire to move it, i didn tlook when i had my cage apart last...

Well if it's located on the driver side, then that's probably no point in moving it.
