Where To Put A Subwoofer?
I have a 2008 Unlimited Sahara with the upgraded Infiniti Sound System with the subwoofer. I want to add another subwoofer but i do not know where to put it for the least amount of space use, but best bass response. Would it be ok to put a sub under the rear seats? or is the trunk the only place that the extra bass with sound good? Thanks for the help.

Do NOT put it under the back seats, they pivot down to the floor when you fold the back seat down. If you are planning on sending only 80Hz and lower to the sub then it should not matter where you place it.

I know that 4wd.com has one that attaches to the tailgate, and is hidden. I think it is called a pod. I was thinking of doing the same thing. Having the factory sub is nice, but I think it needs more power.

Go to Crutchfield, they have several that fit under the seat.

but then you cant fold down the seat in the JK. If I have anything under the seat it wont lay flat.

I faced the same dilemma last year. I eliminated the factory subwoofer and put in a cube with a 10" JBL P1024 which is a very deep massive subwoofer for being a 10". The front face of the cube has the same angle as the rear seat back. It's not bolted down but stays in place due to the weight of the sub. I have the quick disconnect wires. I actually have more room like this than with the factory setup. If for some reason I need more room, removing my sub is thirty second operation at the most.

A stereo shop said that they would build me a custom box that would fit under my rear seat, with quick disconnects of course - but the price was a bit unbelievable. I thought about doing it myself, so I did some quick measurements and from my small understanding of subwoofers, you can't get big enough box under there for a 10" subwoofer (most sealed boxes requires an internal volume of .75 cubic feet, ported boxes need to be larger). I'm guessing you could fit an 8" sub box under there though. I went with a truck box that will lay flat in my cargo area. I have a Mopar Add-a-trunk which limits my height. I haven't hooked it up yet, but once I do, i'll write up a full report on replacing all the stock speakers, the amp and the sub.

I have a tj and hid an 8" focal sub up in the dash. It fires towards the passenger's feet and sounds better than the 2 10" subs that were in it when I bought it. Plus it doesn't take any room. I hid the amp in the center console so there is nothing interfering with space in the back
