what do i need?

Im lookjng to put a cb radio in the jeep, i dont want one of the cobra hand held ones bc my budget is to small, im thinking about mounting it to the side of the center console by the shifter. Now what is everything i need? cb, antenna, and bracket? Or is there more too it, and what about tunning it? Im looking to only spend about $150 on everything. Thank you in advance

That is exactly how mine is mounted. You need the cb, coax cable, antenna, antenna mount. The cb comes with a braket. I spent about 150$ for a mini cobra cb, cable, antenna, and everything. You also need wire splices and to know where you want it wired to.

I've heard good things about this kit, but it's $199.

I was running a cobra, the mini one, dont know the official model number, however i am running a uniden i believe because it was a lot smaller. The antenna is a mini firestick only like 5' or so so it just barely shows above the roof. I have about 15' of cable however i recommend going longer because mine just barely works. The bracket for the antenna i found at the truck store and just drilled the hole larger to work with the bolts.

Quadratec sells a kit with a Uniden 510 cb, coax, 4' Firestick, and a mounting bracket for less than $100 IIRC. Pretty much everything you'll need.

My CB radio= http://www.amazon.com/Uniden-PRO520X...=uniden+xl+pro
Coax cable: http://www.amazon.com/RoadPro-RP-8X1...=cb+radio+coax
Antenna: http://www.amazon.com/FIRESTICK-II-T...restik+antenna
Antenna spring so the antenna will flex and not break: http://www.amazon.com/Firestik-SS-3H...restik+antenna
Optional Speaker because mine is mounted in the center console and I have this speaker down by my feet and the volume output is awesome: http://www.amazon.com/Uniden-ESP20-S...+radio+speaker
Optional PA speaker under the hood, I turn it on when I get out of the Jeep so I can hear if people are talking on the CB and need me to move:
http://www.amazon.com/Pyramid-SP5-We...=cb+pa+speaker

Also you'll need a bracket to mount the antenna/coax together.

Hope it helps and this is just my setup and what works for me

That is the same cb i have, with it going on the side console i say get this one because it mounts flush with the pen notch in the side of the console, it is a flush fit and doesn't stick out any.
