What would be a suitable aftermarket solution?
(Is there a strength difference?)

...I'm not positive but I think the transfer case housing is the same for the Rock-Trac and the Selec-Trac. The gearing is not; its either 4.0:1 or 2.72:1. I recall reading in a Jp Magazine that the actual housing of the t-case is the same so both should be as strong, but that wasn't an official Jeep publication so I may be wrong.
