Took my hard top off for the summer. Went to hardware store, got some grade 8 bolts, got my steering stops sorted out and hit the frame with some paint after the tires polished them up. Chopped and re-installed the rails and fender liners. I'm tired of working on that turd for a week or so!

Well yesterday (I'm always a day behind)...

Pulled all my carpet and all the front floor plugs because my soft top developed a leak - either that or the absolute deluge we got made it leak more than normal.

I really don't want to leave the plugs out, giving field mice easy access - anyone have suggestions?

Buy some chicken wire mesh and secure it anyway you can to ensure it stays put and allows drainage

How much water are you guys going through to allow it into the cabin?

Now that I installed some electronics, that is making me REALLY nervous.

I changed the tranny filter & fluid and transfer case fluid. The middle back tranny pan bolt placement was designed by a sadistic SOB. Its right under exhaust heat shield and from behind the tranny mount blocks and access. I ended up using a 1/4 socket on a flathead screw driver so it could flop around. The tranny pan was extremely rusted and paint peeled off, not what I would expect for 2009. I only have 37,000 miles on it. Anyone else run into this? I sand blasted and painted tranny pan before I installed it, but I am still not happy with it. Anyone know of a good aftermarket tranny pan?

Just when I thought that my rear axle was done I decided that I should add the Poly Performance shock brackets with C/A skids
These raise the shock mount 1-3/8" and give an extra 1-1/2" clearance under the C/A's.
Now I need to make some bump-stop blocks to prevent the shocks from fully compressing.

Very good upgrade. I have the same mounts, just EVO's version. No more getting hung-up on the trail at the shock mounts.

Maybe a tighter weave than chickenwire would be better. Something like window screen. Try making a small frame that you can epoxy onto the bottom of the floorpan or fix a bracket to allow you to remove the screen easily should it get punctured; make it tight, otherwise it gives the little critters an easier path inside.

Just to throw the idea out.........
Mice and varmints are like crackheads and water....they're going to get in.
What I keep inside is OCD secure, but I leave mine wide open all season (no doors, plugs, windows, carpet. worries)
