Didn't take but two. Lol. Was good times. Sadly nothing too wild. I can now get over the most extreme without dragging my belly. So that's an improvement.

Finished a 3-day, 2,258 mile, 35 hour cross-country to bring it home to San Diego. 10 states, averaged about 19 mpg.

Driving impressions:
  • Much more civilized/refined ride than I expected
  • 6 spd works well but throws seem long (been a while since my last stick car though)
  • Cruise works great, so long as you plan ahead and are in a gear with 2500+rpm showing
  • Noise level is good unless into heavy winds/faster than 70-75
  • MyGig/UConnect works great but database is way out of date
  • The more upright/flat windshield certainly kills A LOT more bugs than my WJ did, used a whole gallon of bug washing windshield water on the trip

All in all, really like it. It does consume oil, level dropped more than a quart during trip. Seems a bit underpowered which I expected from my research but still seems a real step down from my nearly dead 4.7 WJ - will be looking for some solid performance/driveability mods.

Will be getting a 2.5" lift and 35's along with Powerflow American Thunder Cat Back/Muffler relocation kit in near future.

Great Jeep, happy to have it.

JK

108k maintenance. Eng oil, axles, transfer case and rotated tires. Rear doors not as lose since changed to delron bushings a few years ago, removed and greased. Replaced one of the front bumper stops that fell.
Then started to think about when the coolant is due for change. Nothing in maintenance schedule. Under specs lists 5 years/100k. Went to store, drained and filled coolant.

Replaced my battery with 9 days left on the 36 month warranty.
That worked out rather well.

I installed the Mastercraft Bimini top and windstopper. I had installed the tonneau cover earlier. Then did the Uwharrie workday and wheeled after.

Got the JK down into my buddys driveway 2 Sundays ago. You might recognize his TJ (or lack thereof). Hours have been tight but Ive been able to get over there and get both of the axles pulled. Need to get out there sometime after work this week to start cutting and grinding. Next step is dropping the gas tank, cutting the upper frame mounts off, cutting the lower mounts off the axle, chopping all the junk out of the rear above the axle, and then fabbing up the upper coilover mounts and crossmember. Not too much left to do but the hours are gunna be there to put in. Should go quickly assuming I can get more than one pair of hands with me next time and multiple grinders going.

Target date is early September. We are all going down to Va for Big Dogs main jambo

Well sure, i can try rougly

its was mostly plug and play.

You needed to program your idatalink module on the internet and then flash the software. the retain the wheelcontrols and also give you the fancy gauges and vehicle information

and then just wiring the new stereo to the idatalink, that took some time..

Watched alot of youtube-videos of how to install #1 a new stereo. #2 idatalink maestro #3 backup camera, and then smashed them together

feel free to PM for more questions.
