New winch

Drove about 400 miles round trip to buy a used-once Warn Powerplant Dual-Force HD. Saved about $700. Also stopped at the dealer since I was over that way and got my first oil change at 6800 miles (free).

Tire off. Took the old light apart, removed the wires from the housing and cut off the connector. Used a dremmel to cut off the riser. Fairly easy to cut. Went to a local auto parts store, found a 2" round LED and one that was 2.5" but conical. Was going to fab up a bracket from some scrap metal but I noticed some brackets sitting loose on a shelf at the auto parts store. Clerk wasn't sure what they were for but looked to me like a bracket for a cb antenna mount, my best guess. At this point I was going to go with the conical one in the center of the rim but when I put it in temporary and stood back it looked like a drunk clowns nose, almost maniacal. So I screwed the round one to the angle bracket and bolted the bracket to the carrier housing. Spliced it in to the existing wiring with splice connectors and then taped them up to try and keep any moisture out. Start to finish about 30 minutes, out of pocket $6.
Good times indeed!

Nice score.
Lube, inspect and re-spool that cable.

Set it on the stock bumper just to have a look. That thing is huge! Cable is like new. I will lube it when I get it mounted. I'll need a winch plate an a bumper now. Or I may do the mod on the stock bumper. Any opinions?

Cut the stock 3rd light bracket off and jigged up a couple brackets. Should have done this a long time ago!

Created custom grab handle for the kids using carseat anchor location.

Two red grab handles
Two spiderweb shade balls

Used red only so they'd see them quickly.

Next up, saddle steps for their feet using the same handles.

What did I do with my Jeep Wrangler today?

2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport

Yesterday I bought it.

Today, I opened the soft-top part way and removed the rear side windows.

I had to roll up the rear window because it wouldn't unzip completely.

Modding the stock bumper takes quite a bit p checking and rechecking to make it fit perfectly. Let me find some pics of one I did for someone else.

The Orlando Tuck and Jeep Fest will be here in a couple weeks. I'm hoping to find a good deal on a bumper there.

Try using some WD40 on just the zipper. Sometimes they get gummed up pretty good from dirt and debris even from just sitting.

I went with a custom bumper to get the winch as low as possible so that I wouldn't block as much of the grill.
