Weird noise when starting in freezing weather.

So I live up in canada. We've been flip flipping from 0 Celsius to -30 Celsius the last few months. On a good day I walk out start the jeep and it sounds fine. But when it gets to -10/-15 it starts to make this obnoxious noise after I crank it.
The best way I can describe it is it is a belt and pull being to tight. It's just odd that it only does this in cold weather. I have a stealer ship appointment in 3 days but I just wanted to see f anyone else has ever had any issues with this?

Appreciate any feed back.

Cheers. Ty

And everything is stock under the hood. Forgot to mention that. And for what it's worth. This is my secon winter and it worked fine last year no noises at all.

Serpentine belt. Or power steering pump.

Goes away after a few moments? Probably just the severe cold.

Yeah it only lasts 1-2 seconds then goes away and idles just fine.
Just really odd sound at the very end of the crank.
Now I just wanna see if I can avoid a pricy bill from te dealer for something simple.

I'm in Canada as well, and when I start it cold I get a sound that almost resembles being not completely in gear...

Everything is frozen in place and needs a few moments to adjust. Normal

lol pfft -30 that's a regular day where i'm at in the canadian arctic, that's just normal stuff in cold weather starting, just be glad your not where i'm at (-40 to -60) where you have to warm up the jeep for at least a half hour and still have a frozen jeep, a tip if you got good brakes, when starting in the morning throw you jeep in neutral and throw on the parking brake while your warming up the jeep, it wont be so hard on the jeep when take off time comes

What kind of oil are you running? Synthetic will help a lot

I have an '08 JKUX that makes a similar noise for a second at the end of the crank in very cold weather as well. It was down to -25 here last week for a couple days and heard it each morning. It sounds like its coming from the starter to me. Otherwise the starter sounds and cranks just fine. Anxious to hear what the dealer says about it.

08 JK here also. Same type of noise last week when it was below 0 last week. It does sound like a belt squeal for about 1-2 seconds. Guess it is normal. Gee, these things produce a lot of "normal" noises! Lol

Same for my 08 Rubicon. If it gets to zero or below I hear the same noise. I wouldn't worry . It does make you worry for a second or two but goes away.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only person that's hearing that come from there rig. It's quite an obnoxious sound and I figured it couldn't be good! Unfortunately it looks like we're in for nice weather the next few days so I don't think I'll be able to replicate it at the dealer.

Thanks for everyone's responses. Gives me some reassurance my rig won't explode for another day.

Cheers all!

I get that squeal for 1 or 2 seconds as well, when -20 and below, most of the vehicles I got all did the same, the various pumps are hard to turn at first, it's normal.
