Weather worthiness?

The interior looks so gentrified, for people who would never buy a Wrangler without such luxury. Does the carpet come out of the JK?

I have a brand new TJ but really like the looks of the JK (at least the Rubicon pictures I've seen). However, having had my TJ for a few months and having removed the carpets and bedlined the interior where I can leave the back side and rear windows out when it rains, I know that in the future I will never buy a JK unless I can get it bedlined and unless it has seats that dry out pretty quick and aren't harmed by rain. As long as I can have some sort of top over the dashboard...

I'm not a fan of removing and putting the soft windows on and off all the time when it looks like rain, because I also insist on cleaning the windows before storing them, so it's a hassle. With the bedliner, I just put my upper door windows on the doors with the soft top up and it's good to go.

Thunderstormed this weekend, and the front seats and dash were dry. Pulled out the plugs and rolled.

I have a Clover Patch roll but will not put the windows back in it without washing them first, so it doesn't do me a whole lot of good. I prefer just leaving them out and not having carpet.

LOL took me a minute to realize that the first three posts were from the same person. lol

I remember hearing in one of the promotional videos that the JK "still has that Jeep ability to hose it out and go" and another said that the fabric of the new seats is impregnated with a substance to prevent staining that is "superior to any spray-on treatment."

So, whether or not it works as promised shall remain to be seen, but at least we know that Jeep is giving it consideration and planning for that.

The "edit" button is our friend.

Of course, the entire thread has gone off-topic, but . . . so it goes.

Haha! Yeah, nothing like letting mildew grow in your floormats and then having to drive for nine hours back home to Maryland and then another nine hours back to Ohio with a set of four tires in the back . . . ugh . . . my Jeep smelled like a locker room!

That trip was the best argument EVER for ripping out the carpeting!

According to http://www.jeep.com/07wrangler/features/utility/, the carpet is removable.

Get Dirty -- Available YES Essentials cloth seats have an easy-care surface that repels and releases dirt and looks better longer. Removable carpet allows you to hose it out if you get too carried away.
