My 2013 has almost 18000 miles on it and it is making the same squeal. Started about a month ago while I was in New York on leave and when I took it to the dealer last week they said it was the alternator making that noise because my engine bay was kind of dirty. They say they cleaned my engine bay and it was fixed. Well a day later noise came right back. Its very annoying. I will have to take it back in and let them know to check out the water pump.

Yeah, that's how mine started.

2012, started getting the chirps, first trip a new belt, second trip a new harmonic balancer and every tensioner pulley. Next trip, every moving part on the front of the engine was replaced, PS pump, Alternator, serp setup, all of it. That lasted another week then more chirping, it was the water pump. I figure they spent about $3000 in parts and labor. All for not, next up, the misfire code for bad head and I gave it back to them. My 13 is quite so far, sad to see 13's chirping as well.

And to those who say the 3.6 is a noisy engine, the 13 I have now is dead silent compared to the 12 motor with chirp and ticking bad head. Hope it stays that way.

Took my 2013 jeep to the dealer and they confirmed its the water pump. Hopefully by the end of the day tomorrow, the noisy pump will be replaced.

The dealership put the new water pump in today and so far so good. Hopefully, that was the fix.

I heard this for the first time today. Looks like it carried over to the '14s as well. Going to make the call to the dealer tomorrow.

I highly recommend this? My jeep has not been making the strange noise for more than a week since it has been replaced.

I think Taco's are neat...for a young girl to drive! Haha they're actually the only Yota I would ever possibly even think of getting, but quite a ways down the list still!

They truly are a girly or old man "truck"!

I have a pop-up camper on my jeep, and I'd only consider a tacoma for a smaller build with a four wheel pop up camper. I'd rather have my old f150 back but it was way too big off road!

I love the jeep but I'm always fixing something, and it's brand new!

That would be a fun setup! I've always thought they look awesome with the high rack over the box and a roof top tent
