Love the forum! As a newbie Wrangler owner this really helps me know where (not) to spend my $$.
Personally I am going bestop free on my Jeeps. All I would tell anyone thinking of buying is to try it all on before you buy if you could. Otherwise its like a gamble. They aparently do not give a crap about the Jeeper. So you have to watch out for yourself. Remember you work hard for your cash and the economy isnt the best. Any business should be kissing your arse for your business and not letting something like this take away revenue. Doesnt make sense to me.
About two months ago, thanks to you (really!), we discovered that there was a problem in the manufacturing of some of the soundbar caps. Something about J hooks being backwards.
This resulted in a production stop, pattern checks, and all sorts of quality alarms and whistles. I don't mean to make this sound trite, it really is a big deal, and took a few weeks to get all sorted out.
So that was posted 9/22/10 and guess what, 12/Nov/11 I have just received the soundbar cover with the J hook sewn in the wrong way!!
I am in Australia and by looking at the customer service that's provided by Bestop I would guess I have no chance in Hell of ever getting this sorted out!! Don't forget that I had very expensive freight just to get it here, so I am one pissed off customer and guess what I'm a Jeep Parts supplier too and you have just hit rock bottom on my list of products I will be importing and selling in Australia!!
I now wish I read this thread before I purchased this CRAP product.
I can relate to this.. and If necessary I will name, names as pertaining to those who "claim" that our Wraparound didn't need any sort of support (speaker bar cover) attaching to our 08 wrangler. However over the last 2 1/2 years we've been running the Bestop combo as supplied to us by Morris4x4 The bikini, wraparound jammer & duster. But things didn't start off as easily as one would hope and over time.. the cinch straps (made from a cotton poly blend) have torn away in two places over the speaker bar.
The thing I wanted to point out.. is that we who buy many of these products need to either send them back directly right after a problem has been discovered or take it upon ourselves to make the necessary alterations in order to make these thing fit/work.. I've accepted the challenge of making these things work.. and because I can sew but I'm not a seamstress.. I will do more than a few alterations to my current setup.
As for the soft door.. yes, We've been running this in conjunction with the Bikini, jammer and duster.. leaks have developed around the surrounds, but a homemade weather stripping has correct this.. for now. But upon first installing the soft doors.. things just didn't line up correctly.. Calling Bestop, the spokesman simply told me to "force it". I didn't agree with his attitude.. but did as he suggested.. it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure these things out and when one deals with a slight margin of error when working with fabric, things simply do not flow or align easily onto the jeep.
So.. Yes the soft door will work with the biniki/jammer/duster combo.. but it will take a bit of getting use to because often the doors will flap towards the top when the jeep enters into a high wind area. I recall crossing the bridge into Outer Banks over the weekend and there was a wind warning.. We both held the doors until we reached the other side.
As for the image above as posted by the Oper.. clearly one can see the opposing channels.. in this instance I may have been upset also.. but I believe a few snips and restrict would have corrected this or at least that is what I would have done.
