i have been having problems with a vibration that occurs through my steering wheel and front end of my 07 wrangler. the vibration occurs when i am going at a constant speed, then will promptly stop when i let off the accelerator....any ideas? or anyone with a similar problem?

Our 07 unlimited did this the day we drove it off the lot. After a couple of calls to the service dept. we finally got it in there to find out we had a bad torque converter. It happened at about 35 mph and 1200rpm's...and it stopped if you let off the gas.. Good luck...

My 08 X just started doing this after a trip. Exactly the same symptoms as described. Fudge, I am going to have to call them again and have it looked at. Not fun.

See your dealer. Computer flash and possibly torque converter replacement is needed. Vehicle will shutter at constant speeds near 40 MPH. There is a TSB on this somehwere, the torque converter is falling in/out of lockup. I hope you do have an automatic...

Make sure they look for this TSB, it might be the problem

NUMBER: 21-002-07 REV. B
GROUP: Transmission
DATE: July 17, 2007

SUBJECT:
Flash: Torque Converter Shudder / Shift Quality Improvements / DTC P0732

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves reprogramming the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with new software and replacing the torque converter as required.

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The vehicle operator may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

1. Transmission Shudder - 42RLE All, 41TE CS/JS, 62TE CS/JS
a. This condition can only occur after the vehicle has been driven and the torque convertor is past the break in period. Torque Converter break in can be confirmed with the StarSCAN®.
b. If experienced, the shudder may occur when the transmission temperature is between 38° C and 54° C (100° F and 130° F) during steady state driving with the torque convertor in partial lock (EMCC) operation. The shudder feels like the vehicle
is being driven over rumble strips.
2. Torque Converter Pull In Bump - 41TE JS, 62TE CS/JS
a. This condition can occur due to abrupt torque converter clutch engagement during EMCC initialization.

I experience the same vibration around 1.9-2.1 RPMs...but only while pressing the accelarator. The only difference is I have a stock 6-Speed. Any suggestions? Took it to the dealer and they havent fixed it, said they cant feel anything out of the norm but I know it wasnt there when I first bought it and I also have the tires rotated and balanced with every oil change.

i've been having the same problem. so i took my jeep in and had my converter replaced yesterday...didn't help.

i called them back this morning and they told me that there isn't a fix to the shuddering. --i am not mechanicall inclined-- but he bascially said that the jeep is geared at a low ratio in order to help fuel economy. the shuddering is coming when driving at a constant speed and the RPMs not being high enough for the converter to change to the next gear (something like that)...trying to lock up??? does this sound right?

it can be flashed and all it does is make it so that the gear changes at a higher RPM.

he assured me this would not cause any problems in the future with the jeep and that some people just deal with it in order to save on fuel economy.

that's just what they told me...anyone else hear this?

again, i'm not a wiz when it comes to vehicles so maybe someone else can explain this better.
