U Connect is not available in Wrangler Sport X Unlimited

I bought a new warngler sport x unlimited on Oct 2012. On the audio unit there is "Uconnect" button but each time we try to pair it with our smart phones, always unconnected and showing display as " unavailable".
I have searched some information through the local dealer and they say there is no feature for Wrangler Sport X unlimited. But U connect are available for Sahara and Rubicon model.
My question:
Why do they put the button in there if there is no functionfor it.
Is there anyone having the same experience?

I'm thinking you need the Connectivity "package" to enable certain features of the radio...

if you push the button that looks like someone talking and say "tutorial" or "help" it doesnt walk you through instructions?

If you push phone, and your phone is not paired, and it says unavailable, it's because your phone is unavailable for any commands and needs to be paired.

As stated above, you probably don't have the UConnect module. I have a 2012 Sport and have UConnect so the model doesn't matter except UConnect might be standard on higher end models.
The module can be added.

Yup, you need the UConnect module for those buttons to work.

Thanks for the replies. I have just been contacted by te dealer in my country regarding the Uconnect. Yes it is unavailable in Wrangler Sport X. It is availble only in higher models. Sahara and Rubicon have Uconnect available. However, I have the jeep already even without Uconnect. Again thanks for all the informaton. Bravo for jeepers.

My 2010 didn't have the uconnect. I bought the kit off a dealer on eBay for 255 installed it myself and the dealer programmed the computer and done. If the radio has the phone button on the face it should be that easy

What did the dealer charge you to reprogram the computer?

dealer to dealer the charge will be slightly different. They try to charge an hour labor but you can get it for a 1/2 hour if you look around.
