Transmission Issue?

Hi all, Been lurking around the forums for some time now, and I've kind of exhausted my internet search and figured this was as good of time as any to seek some Jeep help from Jeepers. It's about my 09 Wrangler X 2 DR

I've noticed that when I'm driving around 2500-3000 rpm I get a rattle that I believe is coming from the transmission. It appears to happen most of the time in between gears (automatic). When I'm in park, no issues ever. The other day after reading through some of the forums I put the jeep in Neutral and tried to rev through the power band, and it would stall and cut out, almost like a fuel cut. Later that day, in slightly warmer conditions, I put the jeep back in Neutral and it was fine going all the way through the power band.

I still have the powertrain warranty, but I was wondering if this sounds like something that isn't necessarily covered by the warranty, or not even in the transmission, like a torque converter or something going bad.

Would appreciate some feedback, thanks gang!

Have you checked the usual heat shield loose issue?

Not sure what that was supposed to accomplish - but I have noticed rev limit does seem to be relative to temp. When cold the rev limiter does kick in sooner.

I would look closely at the heat shield and the exhaust pipe all the way past the cross member. On my 11 (and I have heard of it happening on 12+ as well) the cross pipe was about 1/4 inch from the cross member - under load (motor mounts flex) it would lightly "tap" and sounded like ping... I am sure if you ARE hearing ping - you would have a code stored for faulty knock sensor, etc. so start simple!
