Yes sir, I'll be a good boy now. I've had my fun. Wondered when you would intervene. I will not say anything more unless it is relates to the original post.

I hate to throw a monkey wrench in this lively debate, but for a point of clarification not all 4WD Wranglers come with the badge. Some special editions don't ... at least one that I know of. The 2011 JK COD Edition is a blacked out Rubicon. It didn't have any of the standard badging (e.g. Wrangler decal, Rubicon decal or trail rated badge).

Hmmm debadged and blacked out is a good way to market to virgins, good to know.

meh, I wouldn't know about that. Again, as a point of clarification, here is a picture of my second Jeep that I bought new .... can you guess the year? While this one was chromed to the max, I still like black Jeeps but now without all the bling!

Nope, not even close to a Jeep virgin!

30 inches according to Jeep's website.

Never mind. I had thoughtless comment (don't want to get perma-band).

I have an í86 CJ7 Laredo that also has graphics similar to yours, any chance itís a year or two early than mine? Canít be newer because í86 was the last year of the CJs.

Before 2003 (I think) in order for the jeeps to earn their trail rated designation they had to complete the rubicon trail unassisted in stock form. That was something that Chrysler started with their acquisition of Jeep.

The trail rated badges came as a marketing technique in 2003 on the advent of the Rubicon "special edition" (before it was a mass production model) if I'm not mistaken.

X2 on what Spyder said. That's the way I've always understood it.

Sent from my over priced iPhone.

I'd love to see a knockoff badge with the naked stripper silhouette and have it say "Tail Rated"

Yup chrome was cool back thenÖ

Well I sure was off but gave it a shot. I had actually thought that perhaps it was a 5 because the rear section looked a bit too short to be a 7 and the door opening looked a bit funny but the Laredo decal and stripes won over my decision. My Jeep experience starts with the í86 which I bought new with the Laredo package (top of the line ) and came with a chrome front bumper and rear bumperettes‎, chrome fog lights and chrome spoke wheels. Back then chrome was still cool and white letters out on the tires was popular too.
