I need a roof rack for an unlimited to hold camping gear. The jeep is a lease so drilling is out of the question. Are there any roof racks one could get that don't require drilling?

I bought yakima Raingutter feet and bars, and used it for a ski rack. I don't think it would be rated for a lot of weight. I am thinking of buying a cargo box and using it for ski equipment in winter and light camping equipment, luggage, etc for rest of year.

i have an old yakima basket rack. I plan on making some "O" clamps that calmp onto the roll cage and tighten with a bolt or something. Of course i would have to take it off to put the top up, but i think it would look cool and i would only use it really if i was going to camp jeep and i knew it wasnt going to rain for acouple of days or something

Thule now has a fit pack listed.
It is just a gutter mount.
They state that it is rated for 175lbs I think.
Jeep says 0 lbs

I don't know what to think about the whole thing

I wanna rack but I don't wanna tear up my roof either....

Maybe something that would attach to the receiver hitch or tire carrier that could quickly dismantled with a few pins.

This looks pretty good but at $1,895 (plus shipping I'm sure) that's a little pricey (that's $12.64 to carry a pound). It is a good theft deterent for the Freedom Top.

How could someone steal the freedom top without breaking into your jeep...

And if they are in your jeep then they probably have the resources to pull the two pins and lean the rack back

Stealing the Freedom top? Why not just steal the entire Jeep.

I was always under the rule if I parked my soft-top Jeep somewhere to just leave it unlocked. A knife cutting my top just to reach in is worse than just just opening the door and grabbing whatever it is my dumba*@ left out in the open. It deserved to be stolen at that point.

But, I guess with a rack up on top of the freedom top, it would be somewhat of a deterrent.

Not to hijack the thread, but, anyone have any luck with an alarm in their Jeep? Any success stories oh how it saved you from being broken into?
