Tailgate Protection

Just wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions to prevent the interior-side of the tailgate from getting dinged and scrathed up from items in the luggage area. Im usually pretty careful about this stuff, but I recently noticed that my tailgate's interior sheetmetal is starting to get scratches and already has a couple of dings. A buddy of mine suggested Rhino-Lining or Line-X. I got quoted 150 bucks at my local Ziebart and they want to take my tailgate off when they spray it....im not to sure about this. Anyone have better suggestions/solutions?

Just put Herculiner on it. You can do it yourself, the stuff just rolls/paints on.

I did this to the entire interior of my Trooper. A buddy did it to his Jeep too (we took out all the seats and everything).

I'm considering hot-gluing some carpet to the inside of my tailgate. I figure it would be sound-deadening as well as protective. And, if I got tired of it I could just peel it off without harming the paint underneath.

$150 for coating the tailgate sounds way high to me. Heck, we've got places here that'll do a whole truck bed for $300.

It doesn't actually say that this will work on a JK but someone could measure the height of a TJ tailgate compared to a JK and then let us know what they think

Not exactly for protection but hey it would help and be functional

somebody posted this site on another JK board. i ran across a diamond plate tail gate protector for the jk. go to "NEW! JK wrangler parts" and then "diamond plate tailgate cover." the plate protects the outside not the inside, but the site still has a lot of great stuff.
