Stock gears

I just bought a 2010 Unlimited, I believe the stock gears a 3.21 (correct me if that doesnt sound right) but i think thats what the window sticker said. Its an automatic if that helps. I've been reading all over this forum about tires and what will fit with no lift kit. I'm looking at going to 31" tires maybe a bit bigger, simular to what the rubicon comes with stock. But will that have any effect with the 3.21 gears? Another note to add, This is my daily driver and only sees dirt trails/ old fire roads and the ocassional mud holes a few time a year when I go Rock climbing at Red River Gorge Kentucky. Thats me rock climbing not the Jeep!

I think the 2010 automatic comes with 3.73 gears.

I'm new here too and hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but so far I have learnt from here that in Canada:

If you have any 2010 Unlimited, 32" tires are stock.

If you have an 2010 Unlimited Sport or Sahara, 3.73 gears are stock with the auto.

If you have a 2010 Unlimited Rubi, 4.10 gears are stock whatever the tranny.

Fair point, maybe it's a 2010 thing or perhaps a Canadian model thing.

Dealer told me that for 2010, the Unlimited Sport came with 17" rims and 32" tires while the Unlimited Sahara (which I have) came with 18" rims and 32" tires

I corrected my earlier post

I stand corrected, looks like you have a base Unlimited Sport model in the States that does come with 16" rims and P225/75R16 tires which I assume are 29"

I'll keep my comments north of the border from now on. Sorry for the confusion

The 2008 Jeep Wrangler is not so much an SUV as it is an experience. It's slow and loud, handles poorly, has crummy interior materials and features doors that provide virtually no crash protection. But when it comes to off-road performance, the Wrangler is simply the best choice available.

Back to the OP's question about upgrading to 31's, I guess you'll need to tell us what 2010 model it is that you bought

I think it's funny that the OP had to state that he was rock climbing...not the Jeep!

For your automatic, your stock 3.73 will be perfect for 32" oem tires. Just get Rubicon take off rim/tire set for half the price of new rims and tires. You can always change gears years down the road if you dont like it.

Hey I'm from Ohio, not much Rock Climbing for me or the jeep in here, But Red River Gorge, Ky is a hot spot for climbing, also some good jeep trails.
