SRTpusher's 2007 Unlimited Sahara Build-up

I recently purchased a 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara in Bright Silver. 27,000 miles and just under 2 years old. It has both hard top and soft top, 18s, and 4.10s.

I have the Super Swamper SSRs in a 35 x 12.5 r 17

By srtpusher at 2008-08-31

and the ProComp Series 9001 in knight chrome 17 x 8.5 with a 4.5 backspace

By srtpusher at 2008-08-31

and waiting on this lift from Rock Krawler
3.5" 07-08 Jeep Wrangler JK Mid Arm Flex System

and the ProComp MX-6 shocks

I have the motorcraft handles and the clover patch roll up window bag on the way.

I am spraying the tub with Ameriguard bedliner this week.

Then I am going to get the red river fab rear bumper with tire carrier. These take a while to get, from what I hear. I like the Shrockworks stubby front bumper, but I am waiting to see better pics of the Red River Fab version on some JKs.

I will get pics up as the work is done. I purchase a 1 year membership as without this site, I would have had no clue as to what to do to my Jeep.

Thank you and I look forward to going on my first trails!!!

Sounds like a good setup,i was the same when i got my jeep and wanted to upgrade , i looked up jeep forums in google and found this one first and another one i like as well,it all started when i ordered my lift, then was told 33's would look small with it,so had to go 35's then the bank account went down:gears,driveshafts,etc... and all i wanted was a quality lift with bigger tires. but i like how it turned out, just need a front bumper/winch and a programmer, still feels doggy for having 5:13s added,if the guy did truely not rip me off and keep my gears and replaced with 4:88s,still need to get them checked out....

You will hate the tires when it rains. I have them on my Samurai and if the get wet, they slip like snot on a doornob.

hmmm... note to self. shift to 4wd when it rains... this is what i did on my 2000 dakota quad 5.9 v8 4x4 on pro comp x-terrain 33s. when it rained, if i was in 2wd going around a corner, i had better not step on the gas. it would sping like a top.

the shocks came in today and due to a mess up at 4wheelparts.com, i have 5 wheels and 3 tires... the other 2 tires are on the way, but it will suck if my lift is on and the wheels/tires are not ready to go. i intentionally ordered the wheels/tires a week before the lift so i wouldn't have to roll on stock wheels/tires.

I got a $100 gift card from 4wheelparts due to the mess up and the other 2 tires at $230 each.

i am gonna use the $$ for a bikini top.

gears are def in the future, but i may forgo those and put the $$ towards a hemi swap. i currently have a 2005 durango hemi limited and that will be paid off in around 18 mos. trade in value right now is $7,000. i imagine in about 18 months with an additional 24,000 miles on it, it will be worth around $5000 tops. i can refresh the engine myself and then i will have all the parts I need to do the swap. sell the minivan engine and trans with only 35,000 miles on it and i should be able to be in the swap for around $4,000 - $6,000 total, less the cost of what i would have spent on gears. with the hemi power band, i think the 4.10 gears would be fine.

I thought it was bad to go into 4WD on pavement if there is no snow/mud?

as long as there is wheel slippage, it is fine. if the tires are that slippery on the wet pavement, then it shouldn't hurt to be in 4wd. i also would just shift into 4wd to go around turns. it kept me from spinning like a top.

if you live in any where that is hilly you should consider changing out your gears espicially with 35's. You'll understand after a few 100 miles of driving after you get your tires on.

I have the same tires and have had no issues in the rain. We've had some heavy rains latey...again no issues. Maybe the Jeeps weight over the Sami..?

Those SSR's have a bit of siping in them, adding more cross-siping will increase your traction on wet and icey roads. You might be able to locate a local tire-shop with a siping machine that will do the work for you.

It is a very common tire modification here in Canada - many shops will do it for $25 / tire (or less if you bring cash)

I have seen the at some shops here. I will look into it. Thanks!

as for the gears, it isn't very hilly at all where i am going and $1300 will be a nice start to my HEMI fund.

today was fun - i took interior and seats out of the unlimited. center console was a pain. the 4x4 transfer case handle was just about impossible to take off. had to use these plastic wedge things i borrowed from one of my techs at work (i am a dodge salesman). i love doing this stuff - it is like my therapy. i feel so relaxed when i am done.

The liner is getting sprayed monday or tuesday and the lift should be here next week too. don't know how much the hurricane will delay the shippers.

I will get pics of the tub when the liner is done.

figuring out which mirrors i want to go with for when the doors are off. I have a few that I am considering that i found on a thread here.

later for now and i will post more updates as i do them
