SpiderWebShade - My review

I noticed a lot of people have been talking about the spiderwebshade but really havent seen any reviews or photos.

Just wanted to give my 2cents on the product.

This is the SW1 JK-4D product from www.spiderwebshade.com, goes for $69.99

PROS
* Installs in less than 10 minutes, very simple.
* Does not need a header bar, just uses "spider balls" to secure it.
* Can be left on and the soft top be put up over top of it.
* Inexpensive
* Gives a nice amount of shade and reduces the wind for the front seats, slightly and significantly in the rear.
* Can be used in different installation methods (full cover, half cover, etc)

CONS
* Takes away from the true open top feeling.
* I'm tall (6'4") so I sit high in the jeep as it is, my head just touches it because the top sits lower than the normal soft top.
* My fiancee doesn't like it (pffft)
* I like wind sometimes, dont feel like I have enough now. Might work better if the doors are off.

Some pictures:

I ordered one last night for my 4-door. The shipping is a little steep for something practically 'weightless.' Costs 11.99 shipping.

I was finally able to install mine this weekend. I love the thing. It fits very nice and there is no noise at all. The one thing I have always hated about jeeps is how the sun is always in my eyes from being right above me but this really takes care of it. I would definately reccomend it to preople

I believe so, but you dont even notice it because of the sun visors.

I agree. I installed mine this weekend and the gap up front is less than two inches.
I would concur with mattman8706, it is a very nice and inexpensive way to stay out of the sun down here in Texas.

Oh.. ok. then the one in pics probably could be slid up a bit. It does look good. Just can't decide if I want the one piece there or the two piece from dirty dog. I've got to decide.....................

I have it too, it really takes away from the true feeling. I like it though, and it makes it easier for kids/people to ride in the back. I was able to drive with my windows up, topless, in 63F today and be comfortable.. so I can't complain too much. I would of liked some kind of print out of the proper way to install it. You have yours installed differently from me..

The 2008 Jeep Wrangler is not so much an SUV as it is an experience. It's slow and loud, handles poorly, has crummy interior materials and features doors that provide virtually no crash protection. But when it comes to off-road performance, the Wrangler is simply the best choice available.

I love my spiderweb shade. I know it could probably be made for less $$, shipped for less $$ but it is still a reasonable price and installs uber quick. I'm going down to FL next week and am going to love to be sem-topless for the week.

I was able to use the one they sent me yesteerday and I totally agree with Nick526. I installed mine right up to the windshield header , maybe 1 inch of gap. I will say at 6'3" tall my head hits it when I lean forward. You will see in the pictures I tried flipping the bungee balls to the top to see if it would raise it up a bit but my head still rubbed when I leaned forward. I had balls installed underneath the first time and it did look better that way as you can see on the back section. It was a pain to get the front corners straped around the bar and under the plastic trim but once I figured it out it was easy to install. Other than that I think it is nice. Here are my 2dr pics.

You can always shorten the spiderballs. To the OP: mine came with a single short bungie for the center header. Did yours? If not, you can pull the ball up and make a second knot (readjust if need be, then cut if desired).
