Softer ride swap from RC 2.2 Performance to Skyjacker Hydros?

Got my 2.5" Rough Country progressive springs which included Rough Country 2.2 Series performance shocks ("twice the barrel size of other shocks"). I got the lift I needed, but the shocks.. I don't know. Now even highways feel like "rough country" to me. I've heard great things about the ride comfort of Skyjacker Hydros? I don't wheel. Does anyone have experience with these shocks or want to throw me a comment about the RC's? I don't want to be swapping 2 nickels for a dime here.

Thanks ,

Doc

I actually went the other way around... I had Skyjacker Nitro's (on a pieced together 2.5" BB). Then later switched to the RC 2.5" lift with the RC shocks. Personally I did not notice any difference going from on to the other

But then again, I have a 4dr, so the RC ride is not rough... Anytime I start to think my ride is rough, I just take a drive in my wife's 2dr. It has the TF BB. And I can't even take a drink of soda without spilling it on myself My 4dr rides like a cadillac in comparison... Must be because of the weight difference between the 4dr and 2dr.

Rides like a Cadillac? I love it

I've read the Skyjacker and RC Nitro's are stiff, and their hydros are soft. Both made by Monroe. The RC's I have don't seem to be rated or discussed much either way, so I'm not sure if people consider them stiff or soft.

BTW, just ordered the 1" BL you guys recommended on another thread.

Cheers,

Doc

Stick with the RC shocks and let them break in a little. You likely won't notice much of a difference between the RC and SJ Hydros.

I have skyjacker hydros and think they ride great, If you dont like to get beat up all the time than you will probably like them.

The RC 2.2 shocks are widely reported to be too stiff for 2 dr JKs.

The Skyjacker Hydros are nice and soft. I ran them for more than 18 months on my 2dr Rubi.

I just upgraded to Old Man Emu Long Travel shocks this weekend. They are slightly stiffer, but still considered a soft shock.

If you want a soft ride with a 2 dr, it is hard to go wrong with the SJ Hydros because they are so inexpensive.

And, to run 35s with stock flares, you will still need to buy some extended bumpstops--even after doing the 1" body lift.

i have the skyjacker nitro 8000s (i know you asked about hydros but hey thought i would throw in another option) and think they ride no different than stock, i also have a 2.5" lift and nitto terra grapplers. all is well, but like n2rock said it may be different because i have a 4 door

Thanks guys. Was under my jeep today to look at my bumpstops. I noticed my springs bend backwards a bit. Is this troubling?

i would think that is not good, but i dont know how to correct it unless it is that your coil is not in correctly. there are grooves that the coil should seat in and if the top and bottom are "hooked" in correctly then maybe this could cause it

As long as they are properly seated & installed right side up, there is no problem with your amount of lift.

You can try switching sides if it bugs you.

You need adjustable trackbars & control arms, and in the rear, modified lower perches to fix iit.
