Soft Top - what is needed?

Going to get a soft top for the wife's '13 JK. Since it is a hard top - what all do I need to buy? More important - what brand/model would you get?

Thanks, Rick

Factory tops are very good value, you'll often find them still boxed being sold on Ebay or Craigslist cheap.

You'll need the mounting brackets for the rollbars, plus al lthe stuff that comes in the boxes.....
Door frames and bolts, tail gate clips and bar, the side and rear windows and of course, the top itself.

Tops are common 2007-2009 and 2010-2015......the later tops (2010+) have a better design and the folding sunroof style top. Whichever top you buy, it will require matching years door frames and windows....all the parts need to match.

I've been wondering the same. I cringe when I look at Mopar prices

If you get one of the earlier tops you will have to modify the soft top header rail a little as the position of the footman loop moved above the winshield. Not that hard with a dremel (or remove the loop when using the soft top) but just wanted you to be aware.

Thanks, I'll start watching Craigslist.....the thought of $1300 on another top is a bit much.

A new Supertop NX (made by the same company that makes the MOPAR) is about 1000. It comes with everything you need.

I found an OEM takeoff from an 08 with all the hardware. So all I'll need is to modify the header bar of the top to fit my '14?

That's all I'm aware of. The rear window will be smaller, no spring assist, no cables, no sunrider etc. but those aren't fitment issues. As long as you have everything that should be it based on what I've read on the subject. Make sure you get the bolts that hold the brackets on the roll bar. Often forgotten. Ideally you should install it at the seller's place before you leave.

In this thread there's a picture I posted of the minimal amount of grinding required to make it fit.

Quadratec has several soft tops that are frameless. They do need some hardware but they come with it. I recently put the BestTop frameless on my 99 and I love it.
