All true for the soft top.
Early-manufacture models (the build date is on a sticker in the driver's door jam) prior to roughly March '12 have a problematic cylinder head design that sometimes leads to a check engine light for a cylinder misfire, and loud ticking noise. This engine ticks anyway, but the bad heads are much louder. Jeep's been replacing them as they go, it's not a recall but it's a known problem and it sounds like they're no longer being stingy about it. There's a revised design that seems to fixing the problem...so far nobody here has posted that the problem has returned, and there were several users with the tick/CEL.
But some of us haven't had a problem yet...I'm over 30k miles on a Feb built Jeep and it's been fine. I would not pass on that vehicle based on this one concern.
