Soft brakes

Can't figure this out....hit the brake the other day and it went soft. I checked all the pads and found the left rears were worn out. I changed the rear pads and took it for a test drive. The pedal was still soft and would go to the floor unless I would pump them to stop. First thought was that air somehow go into the system, so I bled them. No change in the pedal. I then checked all the lines and connections for leaks and didn't find any. Next thought is that the master cylinder was letting fluid past the piston, so I changed it...still have a soft pedal (bench bled it too). So next I went over the front and back brakes again and lubed and cleaned everything. Still no good....any thoughts?

In case this helps anyone in the future, I figured it out (I think)....I'm assuming the problem originally was the master cylinder since the pedal went soft before changing brakes or bleeding anything. After changing the master I think some air got into the abs. I ended up jacking up the back end and running it with the fronts on the ground to activate the abs pump. I then bled the brakes again and the pedal is firm again....
