Sahara electric windows... bad idea?

So "if" you plan on a little off road travel, is/are the electric windows a good idea?, considering they might get wet, and of course add weight. I'm looking at a 2008 wrangler w/sahara trim. Does/ has anyone had trouble with the window motors?

tia, mitch

I dunno why it would be a bad idea to get them. I have them, and I would get them again. If you are getting water that high in your doors, you have more to worry about than the window motor. And as far as the weight goes, I don't think it is enough to matter. If it is a concern, wheel your Jeep without doors on.

For years I have been wishing that our Jeeps would come with power windows and got that wish with the JKs. I use them every time I drive my Jeep and they are especially good for the 4drs.

Not a single problem in over 6.5 years. I like having them.

But back on topic, In a 4dr jeep or any thing for that matter, power windows and locks are a must. 2dr can go either way, I dont mind having to reach over the shifter to lock/unlock the doors and roll up/down the windows.

Plus imangine if your in your jeep and the windows are up and you end up fully submerged in water. Manual windows and you and your ocupants will live another day, power windows and your in trouble unless you have a ice pick or something to shatter the window glass.

9 mm on my side; 38 Special on my wife's side...no problems with those windows.

This is my first jeep with power windows. It is still a toss up but I have to get used to it.

On any vehicle with crank up windows I have trouble with my knee painfully resting on the handle.

^^^ Oh yeah forgot all about that. I can’t recall if it was in my CJ or TJ that even though I repositioned the handle the problem still existed.

Thanks for the input folks! I'll not shy away from them if they are on a vehicle I find!
