Rugged Ridge Bug Deflector issue on JK

Hi

I've fitted a Rugged Ridge Bug Deflector in matt black (part no.11348.02) on my JKU. After fitting when driving above 25MPH and using the windscreen washers the liquid just vaporizes over the roof and very little reaches the windscreen.

I've contacted rugged ridge and they say they’ve not heard of that before, and basically said return it from where I’ve purchased it if in not happy.

Has anyone else purchased one and had problems?

Thanks
John

I’ve never heard of that before but I have heard from a couple of people that they don’t defect bugs very good on Jeeps. Sounds like yours might throw the bugs up and over though from what you’re saying about the water.

I do have to mention though that on my previous ’08 and now 2012 that the washer sprayers have always shot a bit high to begin with.

bought a similar product back in 2012 when the jeep was new. since then 3 windows latter and enough bugs to feed a army of bats. Yes they dont work well on jeep. all it does is protect the leadi9ng edge of the hood from chips/bugs really.

Have the same one on my wifes 4 door. Does the same thing, most of the cleaning fluid ends up on the hood.

I have the AVE since 08 it dose not do a thing to keep stuff off the windshield it dose not mess with the washer sprayer at all ether. I left it on I think it looks cool on the Jeep.

The windshield is almost straight up.... For this to be effective, you'd have to put a motorcycle style wind screen on it!

I have the same deflector on a '15 JKUR. I have the vented hood, so I don't know if that makes a difference. I get fluid on the windshield, and none on the hood. Works fine, hope it lasts a long time.

i dont normally like bug shields on a jeep, but that is the nicest looking deflector for a jk i have seen. must be changing the airflow and messing with the spray.

Hey, not to highjack the thread, but what is the name of the color of your Jeep? I like it!

Try shimming the squirters down. a thin piece of plastic under the front edge will make them squirt a bit lower...
